# Minimum and maximum amounts

> The smallest and largest amount for each currency and direction.

Each payment must be within these limits. The limit is checked against the amount your customer **sends** (the `source_amount` in the quote).

Limits for each fiat currency are listed below. New currencies come with their own limits, which are added here when they launch.

## Onramp: fiat in

Limits are in the fiat currency.

| You send | You receive | Minimum | Maximum |
| - | - | - | - |
| NGN | USDC | ₦15,000 | ₦5,000,000 |
| GHS | USDC | GH₵130 | GH₵5,000,000 |

## Offramp: stablecoin in

Limits are in the stablecoin. USDT has the same limits as USDC.

| You send | You receive | Minimum | Maximum |
| - | - | - | - |
| USDC | NGN | 2 | 8,000 |
| USDC | GHS | 2 | 8,000 |

## Decimal places

Amounts can't have more decimal places than the currency allows. For example, `150000.50` is fine for NGN, but `150000.505` is rejected with:

```text theme={null}
source_amount allows at most 2 decimal places for NGN
```

## If an amount is outside the limits

The quote request fails with a `422` error, and the message tells you the limit. For example:

```json theme={null}
{
  "error": {
    "type": "validation_error",
    "code": "invalid_amount",
    "message": "Invalid amount 1000 NGN: minimum is 15000",
    "request_id": "req_3VnR7tY1wZ4cB6dE8fK2mQ9xLp",
    "status": 422
  }
}
```
